HTML Challenged!

This is my second post and honestly I didn't think the content of it would be to vent my frustrations about how difficult I'm finding it to customize my blog. I've been at it for most of the day trying to figure out how to add a custom template, but after hours and hours nothing. But the most frustrating and disappointing part is when I search my blog in Google it doesn't even come up. I even e-mailed Mrs. Tara Frey in hopes she could help me out. By the way her book Blogging for Bliss is wonderful. Hopefully I get a response back, though I'm sure she's super busy. Dear God please help me!!!
